Chyron Of The Day: Fox News Covers Breaking Missing Dummy Story

video

Fox News, 11:38amET:

Before we start this story, we want to make clear that this is real, and not an Onion video or something. Ok so on the afternoon news show Happening Now, Fox News covered the case of a missing ventriloquist dummy. It took an anchor, a reporter and a graphics department that surely had more fun than usual.

“Sheriff’s deputies in Lee County, Florida are on the look-out for Clarence – there he is,” said anchor Jane Skinner. “He’s a real dummy.”

Correspondent Harris Faulkner, who sits at the “breaking news” desk on Happening Now (seriously), followed up on the story, and explained why it was so tremendously important. “He bought it for $500 28 years ago,” she said of the dummy’s co-performer or owner or whatever you want to call it. “And in the performing arts business this thing would be worth thousands of dollars.”

Have you SEEN THIS DUMMY? Call (989) 217-1963 if you have any info.

Thanks Fox News. Watch the heartbreaking tale below:

I would joke that “Clarence” is trying out for the GEICO commercials because in the end, they are about the same. In both cases, a complete unknown have gotten immeasurable amounts of publicity because their non-news story was featured on FNC, except the GEICO guy only got his name and blog onto the air, while Clarence’s owner was able to get a chyron with his cellphone.

If anyone needs entertainment for an upcoming event in Florida, you know who to call.

Is there a rule against interjecting a little levity now and then? Sheesh.

    Lighten up.

@ImNotBlue: There’s no law against inserting levity in a news broadcast or a blog post, nor should there be any complaints when the AP takes this story national as “Odd News” and when it makes the front page of Yahoo!.

When I saw the headline, I though that Snacker was missing.

And, what better source of odd news than FOX?

Glenn Beck is missing? (I used that one because TRRK already slapped Snacker).
