Dem Rep. Goes Off on Cheney: He Should ‘Keep His Mouth Shut’ on Iraq
House Democrat Gregory Meeks complained earlier this week that people should stop listening to John McCain on Iraq, and on MSNBC today he said Dick Cheney, of all people, should “keep his mouth shut” on this issue. Cheney has been making the rounds this week sharing his thoughts on Iraq, which has inspired reactions ranging from skepticism to outright ridicule.
Meeks took a strong stand in 2003 against the Iraq war and voted against the resolution to send troops in, and said that in the intervening eleven years Cheney has continually, consistently, stubbornly clung to his “dead wrong” beliefs. He said the media should just stop covering him with that kind of track record on his carred.
Meeks added, “The guy should just go stay retired, take care of his health, and just keep his mouth shut.”
