Elisabeth Hasselbeck Asks Stanley Tucci If Deceased Wife Saw Movie

tucci_12-17Stanley Tucci, along with his former “Devil Wears Prada” co-star Emily Blunt, was a guest on The View today to talk about his new movie, “The Lovely Bones.”

Things got awkward as Elisabeth Hasselbeck asked Tucci about whether his wife had seen the film – his wife who passed away in April.

Tucci was asked by Whoopi Goldberg if he read the book. “My wife had read the book and the first thing she said was ‘you can’t do that,'” he said. “And she might have been right, I don’t know. No, then I read the script and then later I read the book. I couldn’t almost focus on the book in its entirety, it’s too painful.”

Hasselbeck followed up with: “Has she seen it..has she seen any parts of it?”

Tucci quickly said, “No, no, no,” and turned to Barbara Walters, who tried to change the subject. “Well, you know, can I just ask something about that? Would you let your children see this?” she asked, to which Tucci also replied ‘no.’

Tucci’s wife of 14 years, Kate, passed away in April after a battle with breast cancer. It would have helped to make sure all the hosts were aware of that.
