John McCain To David Letterman On GOP Primary: It’s Good ‘To See If Someone’s A Wacko’

Appearing on The Late Show with David Letterman last night, Arizona Senator John McCain nervously squirmed as the late night host asked him questions about the state of the Republican Party.

“How do you think things are going for your party?” Letterman queried.

“Well, you know, we’ve had better days,” McCain acknowledged, trying to change the subject.

“It seems like now everybody has gone wacky in the Republican Party and I just wondered, was it the influence of the Tea Party, or am I over-examining this?” Letterman asked. McCain thought he was over-examining things, and that the lengthy debate process was good for America.

“It’s good to see whether somebody’s a wacko or whether they’re not a wacko,” McCain quipped.

“No shortage there.” Letterman snarked, without missing a beat.

Letterman asked the Arizona Senator about how, when he ran against him in 2008, McCain had said Romney would say anything to win

“It’s a tough business. You know, it is a collision sport,” McCain observed. “Ronald Reagan and Bush Senior had a very spirited primary andm afterwards, Ronald Reagan chose George Herbert Walker Bush as his running mate.”

Later in the interview, McCain criticized George Stephanopoulos for asking Romney a question about contraception.

“Why would George Stephanopoulos ask about contraception?” he asked incredulously.

“I would guess for him trouble at home.” Letterman riffed.

Those who slight the Republican primary candidates and sneer at their campaigns are either innocently misinforming their audience or strategically disinforming them.

That candidate will know, however, that millions of conservatives, armchair or otherwise, will hold him to his stated positions. If he waffles before the election, images of that waffling will spread as quickly and destructively through the Internet as the ILOVEYOU virus, and some good portion of us will sit the election out. If the chosen candidate wins and waffles afterwards, he will face a primary challenge in 2016 and lose.

All the Republican candidates are smart enough to know this. Our job is to hold them to their promises and vote Obama out of office. Too much is at stake to do otherwise.

    Take heart. Hold fast.

The power of good is on our side.

Rather reminds me of “Annie”. Never could stand that musical. Or her.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Well and good, Gramps, but when do we find out who’s not wacko?

    Or a Mr Magoo.

    “Les Miserables”.

Start your countdown clock in one week. 12 months later, we throw off the shackles and “walk again in the garden of the Lord”.

No more awakening each day to fresh outrages emanating from the White House. The fresh air of freedom will waft across the land again.

Thinking of ‘witchy woman’,  I’d rather she be in the Senate than Barbara Boxer.

Your right……I love the objective writing….”quipped”, “nervous”, tried to change the subject.  Who wrote this?  Kieth “Tokyo Rose” Olbermann?

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Apparently, the great majority of Delaware and California voters disagree with you.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Dear, dear, Jeff. The damage, the havoc the Half-Baked Alaskan caused the McCain ticket is abundant proof of that!

  • OSTL

Damage? Are you drunk 24/7 or just idiotic?

And you can give up your Social Security and Medicare so the rich can trickle it all down on you…is that what you want?

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Lacking a substantive response to my statement, you have confirmed it. Now, a most happy day to you, Jeff.

It wasn’t just the witch. In Nevada they also ran a Scientologist. Those religions make Mormonism seem normal.

Good point.  In 2006 or 2008 we also voted the first (I think) Muslim, so if we had a congress with all ‘religions’ represented it would make things interesting around the holidays.

Hey it’s good to torture patriotic civilians too and then see what they do when their lives are threatened 100 times a day.

This is why McCain is an idiot.  He creamed Romney in 2008 over the Bain Capital crap.  He hated Romney’s guts.  Now he loves Romney and no one’s allowed to go after Romney.  I hope Newt and Perry destroy the SOB.  Romney is a liar, a Flip Flopping jagg off.  He has never created a job in his life.  He destroys peoples lives for his own gain.  Ask the bastard to release his Tax Returns.  Romney only cares about Romney.

Ron Paul…….all the way…..at least he doesnt disguise his lunacy

John McCain should look in the mirror once in a while.

He would see the label pasted on his forehead that EVERYONE else can plainly see:

    BEST BEFORE 1957.

    Ahh, McShame loves the publicity.

McCain stumbled like the idiot that he is when HE was asked about contraception during his disastrous run for president, so I’m not surprised that he’s rattled by the fact Romney has been asked.

These manly men clearly don’t see contraception as an issue of any importance, which says to me that they see 51% of the population as not having much importance.

Hilarious. The guy who picks Palin as his running mate says it’s good to see if someone is whacko or not.

I painted the scenery for a community theater production of Annie.  I had already started painting during the auditions.  Girl after girl sang “Tommorow”, until my ears bled.  I found out when the kids were’nt going to be there and did the work then–it was the only way.  It was too much like Toddlers and Tiaras.
