Mitt Romney To Officially Announce Presidential Bid On June 2

De facto 2012 Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney is poised to announce he is officially throwing his hat into the ring on Thursday, June 2, in New Hampshire. More details are expected from Romney’s camp as the date approaches. He would enter the race as a frontrunner, though facing the significant hurdle of explaining the universal health care plan he implemented in Massachusetts.

ABC News has a few more details on the announcement:

A source close to the campaign says Romney will make the announcement at a BBQ at the Bittersweet Farm in Stratham, New Hampshire at noon.
Romney’s camp tweeted just a few minutes ago: “Making it official next week at the Scamman Farm in New Hampshire.”

The announcement comes at the tail end of a day chock full of Republican presidential news: Sarah Palin is poised to begin her “One Nation” bus tour on Sunday, Tim Pawlenty confused Iran and Iraq (but then rebounded with this shockingly snarky tweet), Herman Cain went all-in on his “inspiration and excitement” bid, and Rod Blagojevich told America he could spin a basketball on any one of his fingers (that last one is a joke). Quite the news cycle to announce an official bid in.

Much of Romney’s perceived strength comes both from his heightened name recognition thanks to his 2008 run and his ability to fundraise among major Republican donors. More details are expected as the date approaches.

Why does the media insist on publicizing it when guys who have been running for President for 3 years announce they’re running for President?

    Because it’s a media event?

  • Universaltruth

Will his hometown newspaper put the announcement on the obituary page like Pawlenty’s did?

I guess you would rather read 100 more articles about Trump. But face it, Obama won’t be running against Trump, and probably will be running against Romney. See, there is a difference between a genuine news story and liberal wishful thinking. Not that most of the mainstream media has figured that out yet. Kudos to Mediaite for slipping this real story into their mix.

I’m actually more looking forward to when he officially announces his decision to drop out.

Romney will not win the Republican nomination for 2012. Simple as that.

If it can’t be turned into a comedy routine, the left can’t deal with it. That’s why there has been so little coverage of Romney in the mainstream media, as compared to the million stories about Trump. You can gauge the seriousness of the challenge to Obama by the degree to which the mainstream media tries to pretend it doesn’t exist. They don’t want to cover Romney, just like they are afraid of mentioning the current unemployment rate, the stagnant economy and all the other serious issues that pose a challenge to Obama’s reelection.

Hence this revealing situation that liberals don’t even want to hear the news when the Republican frontrunner announces his candidacy. The left only wants fantasy stories that reinforce their ignorance. Many are probably still pretending that Obama will get re-elected because he produced his long form birth certificate. Too bad for them that elections aren’t decided by wishful thinking and make believe.

He’s announcing that he’s going to announce. Sounds like an announcement already. Whats he gonna say then that we don’t know from this announcement?

I expect to hear all about magic underwear and how Jesus brought horsies to North America Anything else is a waste of donor dollars

Yet the liberals here had no problem with 10,000 stories speculating on every move by buffoon Donald Trump. But with Romney, the Left would rather pretend he doesn’t exist. And who can blame them. Romney is a serious candidate who has proven he can raise $10 million in a single day of fund raising, and has a deep understanding of the economy that we need in midst of this terrible economic malaise.

THAT doesn’t make for good copy for Comedy Central. And since the Left prefers to get its news from comedy channels and clowns, Romney is a name they just don’t want to hear. Too bad for them that next year’s election won’t be decided by one-liners by stand up comedians.

I live up this way. June 2 is a little early for flip-flops in New Hampshire.

Romney you may want to get on Palin’s bus…that way you will may get some attention.

  • CAINtheBULL

Romney is the Hillary CIinton of this election.

Front runner, infrastruc ture, money, and on the wrong side of the key issue (health care – Iraq vote) that’s important to people who vote in the primaries.

Fact: Please wake up GOP. Don’t send in the Bob Dole and John McCain equivalent against Obama. Mitt would be a punt on 2012.

True. The liberal media will build up Palin, as she’d be an easy knock-over for Obama. And they would deal with liberal Mitt replacing Obama. Either way, a win for the progressive movement. What they don’t want is someone that can debate on an articulate level. Those people will be ridiculed or ignored all-together.

For the life of me, I don’t see how anyone can consider Mitt to be conservative. I just don’t get it.
