Palin On National Tea Party Convention: “You Betcha I’m Going To Be There”

VIDEO

The Tea Party movement got a lot of play on last night’s On The Record with Greta Van Susteren. Presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee voiced his support for the group in populist tones, while yet another 2012 presidential possibility, none other than Sarah Palin, spoke of her ties to the Party as well. Palin insisted she would indeed be the headlining speaker (with a $150,000 pricetag) at the National Tea Party Convention, even amidst controversy and recent drop-outs.

“Oh, you betcha I’m going to be there,” Palin said. “I’m going to speak there because there are people traveling from many miles away to hear what that Tea Party movement is all about and what that message is that should be received by our politicians in Washington. I’m honored to get to be there.”

Palin has been in a little bit of hot water with the Tea Partiers lately after endorsing John McCain for reelection in the Arizona Senate primary despite the fact that Tea Partier J.D. Hayworth will be challenging the incumbent.

Meanwhile, Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann of Minnesota recently withdrew as a speaker at the convention, while many have criticized the guests for taking large paydays to appear. Palin told Greta that she would be donating the speaker’s fee “right back into the cause.”

“It’s about the people wanting their voice heard,” Palin explained.

What? No defenders? I can’t imagine why!

  • TfT

No need to defend Palin, plus there are so many more interesting stories out there right now:

Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh won the judges dance contest at the recording of the Miss America beauty pageant.

Climate chief was told of false glacier claims before Copenhagen

Justice Official Clears Bush Lawyers in Torture Memo Probe

Is America Getting Over Keith Olbermann?

We can and will defend Palin after the left attacks here after she speaks

  • timzank

I’ll always defend her Rox…Just nothing here right now she needs defended against, especially you.

  • m

Oh, I can’t wait for this “tea party convention” to start.

  • timzank

It will provide you with plenty of fodder M, I’m sure. The reassuring thing is very few people actually listen to you, much less take you seriously.

  • roxsteady

Right, just leave it to the teabaggers to defend her. The problems is, they’re not and we all know why. See, this is what happens when you side with wingnuts loons. Now, she’s stuck and suggested that the GOP and Tea Party join forces, which is the last thing the GOP wants because they know it will be political suicide. They want the teabaggers votes but, they also don’t want to be associated with these idiots. Fortunately for Dems, the feelings amongst the teabaggers is mutual. They don’t want to be associated with the GOP either. Now, how do you win elections when your tiny party is going to be split in half? Oh, and those stories you listed might be exciting to you but, the real big story is the 90 minute face punching of the GOP by the President. Or, hadn’t you heard about it? As for defending Palin, I knew that after I’d baited several on this site by pasting an inchoherent comment into a story about Palin without telling you it was her quote, that you’d comment on how stupid it sounded. Once I informed all that it was an actual Palin quote, the unhinged CAPS ensued, which was exactly what I was going for. Don’t make me do it again! Although, it was pretty funny!

  • timzank

Rox, How do YOU know what we want?

  • WaterLoo

@timzank- I’d leave roxsteady ALONE. Clearly, she’s fit for a strait-jacket. No need to even acknowledge

  • JimW

Truthfully, I didn’t think the Obama catastrophe would come to an end so quickly. Palin and Fox News, for all the ridiculing they get, have done a masterful job.

  • roxsteady

I’m only going by what Teabaggers have said, which is that they want nothing to do with the Republican party. You mean you didn’t get the memo? Well, I’ve attached the link to the article but, the last paragraph sums it up:

As for Knapp, he said he’s now working with some of the disaffected Tea Partiers from Tea Party Nation to start building a nationwide third party movement based on Tea Party principles — with no ties whatsoever to the Republican party. And he denounced his fellow Tea Partiers who have tried to work with Republicans. “They’re living in Disney Land,” he said, “if they think they can reform the GOP.”

    That’s how I know!

  • timzank

Rox”un”steady: A handful disaffected members does not another movement make, but keep trying, somebody out there will one day take you seriously one day. Maybe.

Oh who am I kidding, no they won’t. Sorry to get your hopes up.

  • TinaFromTampa

And there are other interesting stories that TfT didn’t include on her list:
the importance, size and diversity of the “tea party” gatherings…
former Gov. Palin’s extensive qualifications (captain of her high school basketball RARELY is mentioned)…
the “falsifying” of global warming research…
    the President’s place of birth…
and other fantasies occupying empty headed cohorts.

  • lynnevere

She says she’s “honored” to be there. But is charging $150,000 to go? Sheesh. Transparent greed.

  • lynnevere

Palin says she’ll put the speakers fee back into the movement to spread the word. Yeah right. Someone should keep a close eye on that money….. after all, Sarah is only looking out for Sarah.

  • TfT

Ah, one again, NotsoAnonymous(posting here as TinafromTampa) shows her thoughts(?) on the board and continues her pesty and stalking manners.

The chairman of the leading climate change watchdog was informed that claims about melting Himalayan glaciers were false before the Copenhagen summit. You can keep you head in the sand all you want NSA, but facts are facts. Just because the media ignores the global warming fraud, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

As for intelligence – we have NEVER seen Obama’s grades from his college days, and ohbythway, his SOTU had a little(?) booboo in it (and I’m not talking his false attack on SCOTUS). But for a “constitutional lawyer” he kind of messed up on a reference. I won’t bother to go into it for you since you just seem to stalk me with personal attacks around the internet.

No one really cares anymore NSA; so it is time for you to grow up and stop stalking me.

First, the teabagger organizers and Palin’s people said she was not getting paid to speak at the convention. After denying that for months, they finally acknowledged she was getting paid but would not disclose just how much (reports are she gets at least $100,000 for this kind of appearance). Now all of a sudden, the speaking fee (that supposedly did not exist in the first place) is now going to be “given back” to the “movement”. If she does give it back I can just about guarantee it will NOT go back to the “movement”. It will go to convention organizer Judson Phillips to repay the loan he took out to pay her for speaking at that event.
