Report: Nancy Lanza Left Shooter Adam Home Alone For Two Days Before Rampage

Connecticut shooter Adam Lanza was left home alone for two and a half days with his mom’s guns before Friday’s massacre, according to a new report from HLN. Nancy Lanza had only just arrived back at her home Thursday evening, following a two-night trip to Bretton Woods, New Hampshire.

That home is now a crime scene, with a police cruiser ever-present in the driveway and yellow tape surrounding the premises.

Contrary to reports that Lanza told a babysitter to never leave her son alone, friends say she trusted him and often took “mini-vacations” by herself. Lanza’s only admonition to Adam was not to cook, so she prepared each of his meals for him in advance of her trips.

Friends say she chatted with them during her two nights on vacation and seemed in good spirits.

HLN reports that Lanza checked into the Omni Mount Washington Resort at 12:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, and checked out at 12:27 p.m. on Thursday. The drive between Bretton Woods, NH and Lanza’s hometown of Newtown takes nearly five hours and clocks in at just under 300 miles.
