SNL: Bill Hader’s Stefon Has More Fun In New York Than You Do

In an otherwise lackluster SNL (sorry, Alec Baldwin), the standout was Bill Hader‘s new character, club kid Stefon, whose detail-rich descriptions of New York’s hottest nightspots are creative, hilarious, and sound like the kind of ridiculous fun that is the stuff bachelorette parties gone wrong are made of. Twinks, Gypsies, Germfs (German Smurfs), club promoter Gay Liotta and DJ Baby Bok Choy (“he spins records with his little ravioli hands”) are just a few of the characters who get namedropped here, as “Weekend Update” anchor Seth Meyers tries and mostly fails not to crack up on screeen. Cue the Stefon spinoff movie – PLEASE.

SNL should have taken a cue from Seinfeld and quit years ago. Now that the Wanda Sykes Show has been canceled, maybe they can get her!

Soooo disappointing. They could have just played a collection of Baldwin’s past best bits and done better. I was shocked there was no Jack Donaghy/30 Rock bit – seemed so obvious.

Honestly, I found this absolutely hilarious. I suppose you need to be a part of the art scene to get any part of this skit.
With this, it is very selective humor. Only some, like me, will get it…good for a laugh at an art gallery…not good for a TV show.

Well I thought it was the most hilarious part of the TV show too, even though I am not part of the art scene, like… Belmira! You know, it’s that thing, of where posers from Newark post comments on media blogs? saying SNL skits should be at art galleries indstead of on TV? – like mannequins wearing shower curtains made of gellatin? Yay Stefon!
