Stephanopoulos Grills Trump Business Adviser Felix Sater on Moscow Tower Deal

Businessman and Trump affiliate Felix Sater insists he doesn’t know if anyone on the president’s team colluded with Russia, but if Robert Mueller can prove it, there ought to be a penalty.
Sater gave an interview to George Stephanopoulos on ABC where he talked about his role years ago in talks for a real estate deal to build a Trump Tower in Moscow. Stephanopoulos wanted to know whether Trump ought to be concerned about the details of that venture, especially due to the news Robert Mueller is subpoenaing the Trump Organization for business documents that include his dealings in Russia.
When asked if it was “appropriate” for Trump to pursue the Trump Tower Moscow deal while running for president, Sater offered this response:
“I can’t answer that. I can only answer in the following way: a beautiful building could have been built and maybe even improved goodwill relations between the countries because of it. I didn’t see any downside.”
Sater was also asked about his correspondence with Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, having said in an email years ago that he would talk to Vladimir Putin to “get Donald elected.” Sater answered that he and Cohen were “giddy” about Trump’s run for office, and that he would’ve used his contacts in Russia to support Trump during the election.
Stephanopoulos eventually asked whether Sater knew about Russia’s cyber campaign against American institutions when he was trying to finalize the Moscow deal. Sater said he only found out about Russia’s meddling after the election was over, and he did not know if anyone in Trump’s orbit was involved in that. He did say, however, that anyone who colluded with a foreign power against America should pay the price.
“Send ‘em to jail,” Sater said. “Anybody who colluded with anybody, with any other country against America, is guilty of crimes against our country.”
