Stephen Colbert Ridicules Ted Nugent’s Column Attacking ‘Millennial’s Apathy’

Last week, Tea Party darling and ’70′s rock ‘n’ roll participant,’ Ted Nugent, wrote an editorial in The Washington Times designed to jolt what he described as today’s apathetic, “terminally-stoned” youth awake. Last night, Stephen Colbert lauded this effort, pointing out that Nugent “knows that the thing that’s going to jolt our youth awake is our newspaper industry!”

The Comedy Central host then gave the apathetic Millennial generation a fair shot in a segment he called “Good Point, Other Point,” in which he debated Nugent’s points with a Millennial individual in the flesh, NYU Art History major Robin Greenfield. Comedic confusion ensues — watch for yourself in the clip below, courtesy of Comedy Central.

Fact: Comedy central and the democratic party are one and the same. It’s real hard to awake a flat lined brained youth that has been in a altered state of being a democrat that are unable to think for themselves even for TED Nuggent jolting them.

Would like to see these two in a steel cage match.

    Heh…

Colby, you honestly wanna label one of the most prolific guitarists in all of rock & roll as a “participant” just because you don’t like his politics?

    Petty, very petty. But typical.

You may hate his politics but you deny his guitar playing prowess? That’s absurd.

I couldn’t care less about Nugent’s (or anyone else’s) politics.

Nugent has done nothing exceptional, musically.
I’ll grant that he used to be a decent showman, but no more.

rock and roll participant was how he was described by Colbert nitwit.

Nitwit? How professional. It’s certainly not clear from the article that that was a quote from Nugent. Perhaps if you’d put it in quotation marks….

“Nitwit”. Another one of those short tempered conservatives.

I used to to find Ted a bit tedious, a bit pretentious. I still find his love (obsession) for hunting to be, um, shall we say, “over the top”… However, I used to bird hunt with the Old Man but never,’big game.”

Hunting with my Dad was a mystical, almost spiritual experience. Pops was a true hunter, Browning Over/under worn, but oiled boots and tattered clothing. The Dogs would go on point, and hold. When my Father died, I stopped hunting.

Point being, I am not anti-hunting, just anti-slovenly and lazy hunters. (Nugent is NOT slovenly or lazy)

I have changed my mind on Nugent, he is a wonderful spokesman for Hunting, Firearms ownership and the 2nd amendment, etc.

The other day, I saw Nugent intellectually eviscerate an anti-second amendment Politico, who was debating Ted.

I was so impressed with Nugent’s passion, coupled with his command of the facts, I actually found myself clapping.

Ted Nugent, is a man of far greater substance than I realized. Well done sir!

    I agree.
I’m not aware of any vitriolic history between yourself and timzank, Colby, but evn if there is, that was very unprofessional – and I must say, something of an anomaly to find here at Mediaite.

Aside from the glaring lack of true security, I’d say the most dangerous development coming from of the internet would be the virulent spreading of JBS-level conspiracy theories like this one. It’s like a feedback loop of lunacy.

Dipshit, that was Colbert. Also, Nugent is overrated, and not particularly memorable.

  • bpollen

Back in the ’70s (when Nugent was a least vaguely pertinent) I went to a number of concerts where Nugent was the headliner. Each and every time, I left before his act started. If you saw him in concert once, or listened to 3 of his songs, you heard every lick and flourish in his repertoire. I freely admit he was a fast guitarist, but as most women will attest, fast is not necessarily a good thing, and seldom the most important thing…

As far as the 2nd amendment goes, a washed up rock-n-roller is who everybody first thinks of when it comes to constitutional scholars.

  • V for Vendetta

Yeah, taking opinion from Ted Nugent seriously is like calling Fox a news channel…
Here’s a man that avoided the draft by not bathing for three weeks, urnating on himself before going in front of the draft board in order to get himself a succesful Section 8 and thereby avoiding going to war…Yet another Republican War Coward…Not to mention taking legal guardianship of a 17 year old girl so they can legally have sex…Then of course, mulitple wives, multiple groupies while on the road…Gimme me break…
