Shortly before we brought my mother home from the hospital for the last time, she hadn’t eaten more than a few bites of anything for several weeks. Out of the blue, she asked me to go to Texas French Bread and get her a chicken salad sandwich on sour dough. When I got back, she began eating. The nurse came in for a blood sugar test and insisted my mother submit at once. Mother slammed down her sandwich and stuck out her middle finger on her right hand. I somehow felt that was a most appropriate flip. When the nurse asked, “That wasn’t so bad, was it, Sweetie?,” I was less on board with throwing the potato chip at the nurse.

What would you suggest? He had a human moment and was caught on camera, big deal.

If that moment does say ‘I don’t care anymore’, I’m not sure what does.   In all fairness to Chuck Todd, though, the ads show the show drinking all night, so maybe he’s embracing the new MSNBC branding…. 

Were you also disappointed when you learned the finger was not made in anger, but rather some inside joke (along with a smile by him and David Gregory) that provoked the gesture?

I wanted to feed my warped curiosity and sense of humor with the discovery that he finally had enough from either Joe Scarborough, Mika or Donald Trump.

Instead my reaction was a big ho hum with a shrug of my shoulders.

Perhaps “had” hot brunettes is more accurate.

Sadly (for some of us anyway) the charming Norah O’Donnell moved to CBS and took her contagious and wonderful laugh with her.

Liberals are such classy people

I thought that “Meet the Press” was especially good Sunday.  Chuck Todd was on and took it upon himself to ask questions and even follow-up questions to the other guests.  Todd is very good.  He actually listens to the answers given by the guests and intelligently responds.  He has a lot of Russert type talents.  Gregory, on the other hand, operates totally from a script of questions intended to generate headlines and clips.  He never even listens to responses, just moving on to his next gotcha question.  Maybe NBC might show some intelligence and dump Gregory from that important news show and put an anchor in place that the public would value.  I know, intelligence is too much to ask from NBC.

I agree, to some extent we all indulge in schadenfreude when it comes to those we disagree with.  Regarding the bet, in itself it is no big deal, just the amount.  If you are like me, the $$ amount would have been something like 10, 20 or even 100 bucks if we were really passionate.  The fact that Mitt is very wealthy (and I don’t have a problem with that at all) the 10k raised eyebrows.  That said, it was blown out of proportion.  If you didn’t know Mitt was a wealthy man and had different values associated with money, you weren’t paying attention.

It would have been a lot better if he were pointing it at that dick standing next to him.
