Will Christine O’Donnell Dance With The Stars Next Season? Yes, If Sarah Palin Has Her Way

Palin O'DonnellIn just a few hours, the winner of Dancing With the Stars’ 11th season will finally be revealed. But just as speculation about the 2012 presidential election began months—if not weeks—after Barack Obama was elected in ’08, the internet is already discussing which “celebrities” might learn to cha-cha in Season 12. One semi-surprising name that’s being thrown around? Christine O’Donnell, the 2010 midterm elections’ most-covered candidate.

According to Popeater’s Rob Shuter, America’s best-known Mama Grizzly herself is trying to convince DWTS‘s producers to secure O’Donnell for the next cycle of their show. He reports that Sarah Palin brought the idea up during last night’s installment of Dancing, in between cheering for daughter (and DWTS finalist) Bristol.

Roll your eyes all you want—casting O’Donnell would, in fact, be a coup for ABC. Here’s what an exec from the network told Shuter when contacted for comment:

“Christine is not a bad idea at all… After Kate Gosselin and Cloris Leachman, O’Donnell would fit right in. She certainly would be so controversial that the amount of press attention and buzz the show would get would be huge. Plus, you know they would make her dance in a witch’s hat with a broomstick.”

That last crack alone is enough to make me desperately want to see O’Donnell in Season 12. Hey, if Tom Delay can do it, anyone can. Literally anyone.

ugh. I hate hate hate HATE reality television.

  • Fox News: Better that we sell Hate than Crack

Let us rename the show Dirty Freeping with the Stars.

While I believe Christine O’Donnell is destined for something along these lines, I would have to imagine the producers of this show are smarter than that.

All signs point that the core viewers are not interested in having a polarizing political figure mucking up their feelgood entertainment.

The problem ABC would have is that Christine will turn out to be a great dancer and with her personality, she would probably win. Now, how could you have two conservative women going to the finals two years in a row. The entire entertainment industry would be taking pills (whoops… they already are, sorry).
Maybe it would be so shocking they might lose their narcissism and realize just how useless they really are as regular human beings and then we would have to fund hundreds more rehab centers to take care of them all.

  • CosmosDan

Well, that means I might be interested in watching ODonnell once, out of curiosity.

Perfecttly funny… Palin is an aged techno-letch… Perfect that she would advocate for the mash up of corporate distraction and civic order.

Sarah Palin’s “unprecedented negatives” are starting to spread to her TLC reality show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska.

Her show’s first episode drew five million viewers, making it the highest-rated premiere the network had ever had. The ratings for Palin’s second episode fell off a cliff on Sunday, indicating that viewers were curious about her program, but disinclined to stick around:

Sarah Palin’s Alaska fell 40% on Sunday night to 3 million viewers.

Not many were in the key adult demo either. Only 885,000 viewers were ages 18-49, dropping 44% from last week.

In fact, the median age of the show is 57 — that’s 15 years older than TLC’s average.
Compare Palin’s ratings to that of AMC zombie thriller The Walking Dead, which on Sunday drew 4.8 million viewers for its fourth episode, half in the lucrative 18-49 demo.

Sarah Palin’s Alaska just doesn’t seem to be the kind of horror show Americans are interested in.  - Matt Gertz

And you are clever in a manner familiar to the broadly deficient… Enjoy that! Co-opting an aviator is certainly evidence of sound thinking…Defense of Palin’s oddity and O’Donell’s absurdity are noble ends for your ability…
    Cheers!

Is that like hijacking a plane?

  • Greg

Not nearly… But an aberration of modernity and a violation of the public sphere no less.

  • Bill Mahwer

Lets hope not. This show will do anything for ratings.

If she does the show is so rigged that I will be regardless how bad ODonnell is she will be around til the last show…… Who is doing the voting on this show. Acorn?

  • skyfet

This is where they both belong rather than being in office.
