Trump Takes Victory Lap After Bruising Day in Court: ‘Their Case Is Totally Falling Apart’

Former President Donald Trump insisted Tuesday’s court proceedings went well for him after Stormy Daniels testified in graphic detail about an alleged sexual encounter they had.

Trump denies her claim, which prosecutors say he tried to cover up by paying her hush money. The former president is charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to hide that payment and others Trump made to conceal alleged affairs with Daniels and former Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal.

Daniels’ testimony was overly detailed as far as Judge Juan Merchan was concerned. He appeared “noticeably uncomfortable” and sustained several objects by the defense. One legal analyst on MSNBC said the “wild” testimony received a mixed reaction from the jury.

After court adjourned for the day, Trump addressed reporters and claimed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is backed by Democratic megadonor George Soros. He also alleged the case is disintegrating.

“So this was a very big day, a very revealing day,” he said. “As you see, their case is totally falling apart. They have nothing on books and records and even something that should bear very little relationship to the case. It’s just a disaster for the D.A., for the Soros-backed D.A. the year. It’s a disaster. This whole case is just a disaster. If you read the legal scholars, you’ll see – because they’re writing about it – they’ve never seen anything quite like it. And neither have I.”

As he has done in several other post-court appearances, Trump said he “should be out campaigning right now” and claimed his lead in the polls over President Joe Biden would be greater were he not in court.
