Yes, you read that correctly. Bill Nye “The Science Guy” is coming back to our TV screens in 2017. For those of us who grew up in the 90s, this is no small deal. When we were in elementary school, Nye was everything. He made science and school fun. It was one of the only videos our teachers showed in class (other than the Spanish-language versions of Disney movies) that was educational, but not boring. We liked him so much, we actually watched him in our free time. We all still remember the iconic theme song.
IndieWire reported today that Nye is coming back to TV with a Netflix show that will premier in the Spring of 2017. According to the official Netflix description, “Each episode will tackle a topic from a scientific point of view, dispelling myths, and refuting anti-scientific claims that may be espoused by politicians, religious leaders or titans of industry.”
Because millennials have such a soft spot for Nye, he’s been able to come back into the public eye in recent years. He published two books in 2015 and has become known for participating in public debates on topics like evolution.
In a statement to IndieWire, Nye said, “I’m excited to be working with Netflix on a new show, where we’ll discuss the complex scientific issues facing us today, with episodes on vaccinations, genetically modified foods and climate change. With the right science and good writing, we’ll do our best to enlighten and entertain our audience. And, perhaps we’ll change the world a little.”
Netflix Tweeted about the show today:

Nye Tweeted back that he “can’t wait!” We can’t either.
