Netflix has released the first details about Mike Myers’ upcoming comedy series — including the title, plot and supporting cast.
The half-hour series, titled The Pentaverate, revolves around a secret society of five men who’ve been working to influence world events since the Black Plague of 1347. As the show begins, an unlikely Canadian journalist finds himself on a mission to uncover the truth and possibly save the world.
Myers, known for playing multiple characters in the Austin Powers films, will play seven brand new characters on the show. The details of his various role have yet to be revealed, but it’s likely he’ll be starring as the Canadian journalist and all five members of the Pentaverate.
Appearing alongside Myers in the series are Ken Jeong, Keegan-Michael Key, Debi Mazar, Richard McCabe, Jennifer Saunders and Lydia West.
Created by Myers and directed by Tim Kirkby (Fleabag), production is currently underway on The Pentaverate.
Netflix first announced in April 2019 that Myers would be starring in a new comedy series for the streaming service, but few details were known about the project at the time. The Saturday Night Live alum had said, “I love creating characters, and Netflix has given me a fantastic playground to play in.”
The Pentaverate marks Myers’ first narrative series and first starring role in a live-action project since 2008’s The Love Guru.
