If you watched Gordon Ramsay‘s Kitchen Nightmares, or even if you didn’t, you’ve probably seen the episode with Amy’s Baking Company- it’s one of the most notorious in the show’s history. The restaurant, which was in Scotsdale, Arizona was owned by Amy and Sammy Bouzaglo.
Ramsay tried some of the desserts, and loved them. That’s pretty much where the positives ended. Ramsay ate one menu item after another, didn’t like most of them, and then he got to work. The Bouzaglo’s weren’t exactly receptive to any criticism and frequently swore at customers when they sent food back, usually because it was raw or frozen. Ramsay famously threw in the towel and walked out.
The whole thing became a major scandal in 2013, and people went nuts on social media. But Amy and Sammy went nutser. They wreaked havoc on their own Facebook page in all caps, cursing at Redditors and Yelpers and threatening legal action against them. Eater did the important work of archiving all the posts. Thanks, Eater! The Bouzaglo’s later claimed the page was hacked.
In 2015, Amy’s Baking Company closed. They said that it had nothing to do with the events of the last few years, but said they had an issue with their landlord.
We watched these highlights, because we kind of can’t believe these people exist. Happy Flashback Friday to you all:
