Hannity Abruptly Changes Topic After Fetterman Mentions Scandal-Ridden Republican Candidate

Fox News host Sean Hannity quickly changed the subject when Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) began talking about scandal-plagued Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R).

In May, Paxton defeated Sen. John Cornyn for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination in Texas. The attorney general has been; indicted on criminal state securities fraud charges in 2015; hit with federal civil fraud charges in 2016; accused by former staff members of taking bribes; impeached by the Republican-controlled Texas House of Representatives; accused of adultery by his wife; and has been accused of abusing his office to help a friend and donor, who reportedly employed Paxton’s mistress as a favor.

Paxton will face Democratic state Rep. James Talarico in November. Polls show an unusually close race in the Lone Star State.

Fetterman has become something of a regular on Fox News, where he readily bashes other Democrats for being too progressive and/or insufficiently pro-Israel. On Wednesday’s Hannity, however, Fetterman began veering away from the standard fare by criticizing Paxton. The host responded by redirecting Fetterman away from the candidate and toward “radical views” in the Democratic Party. The senator invoked Graham Platner, the embattled Democratic Senate candidate in Maine.

“He has a little Platner energy,” Fetterman told Hannity. “I worked with John Cornyn. He’s a rock-ribbed conservative. He has respect across the aisle. Now, Texas picked Paxton–”

“Let me ask you the big question,” Hannity interjected, apparently uninterested in hearing Fetterman’s criticism of a Republican. “The big question to me is, the leaders of your party, the Chuck Schumers, the Hakeem Jeffries, why are they so fearful to speak out and take on these radical views that the Democratic Party never supported before?”

Fetterman obliged by slamming the democratic socialists who have recently scored major upsets in Democratic primaries, particularly in New York, where three of them coasted to victory.
