Bill Maher Baffled By the Uproar Over Trump’s Reflecting Pool Drama

Bill Maher said only people “obsessing” over President Donald Trump have the energy to get upset about his much-publicized and much-criticized revamp of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

Maher said on the Monday episode of his Club Random podcast he just doesn’t get the fixation on Trump’s various projects, including his recent “Freedom 250” UFC event at the White House.

“As long as it’s something that doesn’t really affect me or other people for real — I don’t care about your reflecting, I don’t care about your ballroom, I don’t care what you do on the lawn,” Maher said. “You can have UFC fights, you can have sheep grazing there like one president did.”

His guest, British comic Jack Whitehall, chuckled and seemed to agree as Maher went off.

“You can do anything — pickleball — I don’t give a sh*t what you do on the lawn,” Maher said. “And if you’re a person who does, you’re just way too into Donald Trump as the person who controls how you think in life.”

Maher added, “I’m not going there. And I’m winning. and I’m somebody he attacks personally! And I care less than you do. You’re life is all about Donald Trump.”

His comments follow Trump’s revamp of the reflecting pool becoming a big news topic over the past few months. Trump said last week he is currently searching for “vandal proof material” to protect the pool, after he has claimed scofflaws cut a 350-foot gash into its lining. The June UFC event at the White House and Trump’s new ballroom construction have also been projects MAGA critics have bashed over the last year.

Maher said Americans who worry about those things and Trump’s demeanor need to get a life.

“I don’t care. If at this point 10 years into the Trump situation you are still obsessing about his personality, my view is that’s on you,” he said.
