Chris Hayes Gets Fried for Sporting Salmon Colored Tank Top on Podcast: ‘What the Hell Is He Wearing?’

You wouldn’t confuse him with prime Sylvester Stallone, that’s for sure.

MS NOW star Chris Hayes joined Pod Save America on Sunday to discuss the Michigan Senate race and “the masculinity of the left”… but what he chose to wear ended up being the biggest story. Hayes sported a salmon-colored tank top and rocked a gold chain around his muscle-free shoulders — a look that spurred host Alex Wagner to immediately trot out the old phrase, “suns out, guns out” as the cable news veteran flexed his right bicep.

The pair joked about his outfit a few more times as the show went on, and a whole grip of X users joked about it too once they caught a glimpse of Hayes in his beachwear.

A handful of right-leaning accounts and other users just seemed baffled by his fashion choice, with some asking “What’s going on here” and “What the hell is he wearing?” While The Daily Wire editor-in-chief Brent Scher asked if he was being fooled by an AI rendering of Hayes in a tank top.

And others just mocked it:

There were several other responses that were a bit too harsh to include, with some comparing Hayes to his MS NOW colleague Rachel Maddow and others making crude jokes about his sexuality.

Not everyone was hating on Hayes, though. He had some defenders respond, including one user who said he was just displaying his “primal” form as a New York City native of Italian and Irish ancestry. Another user called him a “leftist scumbag,” but conceded his outfit was cool and made him look like he was going to a 1988 Depeche Mode show.

Will Hayes respond to the fashion police? He hasn’t so far on X, at least by around 11:00 a.m. on Monday. But maybe he’ll comment on the pink tank top seen ’round X on All In, his prime time MS NOW show.
