Dancing Dads Are Here Again: Trudeau Prances With Plunger as Son’s Song Plays at Hardware Store

Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his pop star girlfriend, Katy Perry, filmed themselves prancing around a Montreal hardware store in their latest silly video together.

Trudeau, 54, grabbed a plunger and what looked like a dish drainboard full of different items and mugged for Perry’s camera as his son Xavier Trudeau’s song “Downtown” played over the store’s speakers.

The 18-year-old model and pop star reposted the clip on his Instagram with the caption, “My new single ‘DOWNTOWN’ reaction video.”

“In the Home Hardware on St-Laurent St,” Trudeau says in the clip.

At one point, the camera turns to Perry, who is seen bopping her head along to the song. Both were clad in black sunglasses, white T-shirts, and jeans.

Kevin Pereira, whose family runs the Quincaillerie Azores/Home Hardware, said the pair were inside on Saturday for less than an hour.

“They just popped in randomly by themselves with one security guard who stood in the front,” he told the Montreal Gazette. “They went about their shopping (and) spent about 45 minutes here.”

Trudeau, who resigned as prime minister in January 2025, sparked MAGA outrage in July when he appeared in a teaser clip for Perry’s single, “Watch it Burn.”

At the time, Fox & Friends Weekend host Griff Jenkins slammed Trudeau’s turn in the music video, exclaiming, “What are you doing, bro?”

“Literally, a 54-year-old grown man dancing in his girlfriend — Katy Perry, remember, he divorced his wife after leaving the prime minister’s office. I don’t know what you say about this other than, that is weird!” while conservative outlet The Daily Wire quipped, “Now that he’s done destroying Canada, Trudeau is a background dancer for Katy Perry.”
