A Netflix executive acknowledged on Saturday that many subscribers had a difficult time watching Friday’s boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul but still celebrated the event as a success.

Paul, 27, defeated Tyson, 58, by decision after eight two-minute rounds following a months-long buildup and one delay after Tyson reported a health issue.

Many people who subscribe to Netflix might not have seen much of the fight as they reported issues with their stream buffering before and after the main card.

As Mediaite reported, #WTFNetflix trended on social media Friday night as the complaints rolled in:

In a statement obtained Saturday by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Netflix reportedly told employees:

This unprecedented scale created many technical challenges, which the launch team tackled brilliantly by prioritizing stability of the stream for the majority of viewers. I’m sure many of you have seen the chatter in the press and on social media about the quality issues. We don’t want to dismiss the poor experience of some members, and know we have room for improvement, but still consider this event a huge success.

Gurman further reported, “The Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson fight on Netflix last night peaked at 65 million concurrent viewers, I’m told. That’s up from 1.8 million concurrent streams for the Tom Brady roast earlier this year.”
