The View’s Ana Navarro lashed out at Megyn Kelly over her mockery of Stephen Colbert following the cancellation of his late-night show.
Fans of Colbert have been up in arms since the announcement that The Late Show will be shutting down in a matter of months. Some have tried tying the cancellation of the show to a pending merger between Paramount and Skydance, as well as a settlement reached by Paramount in a lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump over CBS’ reporting. The president celebrated the end of Colbert’s run.
Conservatives like Kelly have meanwhile argued that Colbert’s show was too political and its end is part of a larger shift by audiences away from traditional late-night talk shows.
On The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly argued Colbert tried to be more of a “pundit” with his CBS show and it didn’t pan out. Colbert has continued being political following the announcement, knocking Paramount as “morally bankrupt” over their settlement with Trump.
“He took that show, which was a great platform in nighttime television at the Ed Sullivan Theater, and completely drove it into the ground,” Kelly argued on her show. “He had originally been a Comedy Central where he was more comedy. And when he moved over to CBS, he decided to be more pundit. He desperately wanted to be Keith Olbermann. And guess what? Keith Olbermann is a failure, and now so are you, Stephen Colbert.”
Colbert took over hosting duties on The Late Show after David Letterman in 2015. He previously hosted the satirical Colbert Report on Comedy Central.
Navarro blasted Kelly by bringing up the former Fox News host’s brief stint with NBC.
“Oh the lack of self-awareness is strong with this one. When Megyn Kelly moved to NBC mornings, she tried to be perky and likable. She failed so hard, they reportedly paid her the remainder of her $69M contract -to the tune of tens of millions- just to be rid of her. Look in the mirror, girl,” The View co-host wrote on Instagram.

Kelly ended up staying at NBC for two years, wearing multiple hats, including being a daytime talk show host.
