BREAKING: Rep. Gerry Connolly Dies After Bout With Esophageal Cancer

Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA) has died.
In a statement posted to the congressman’s X account, Connolly’s family announced his passing.
“It is with immense sadness that we share that our devoted and loving father, husband, brother, friend, and public servant, Congressman Gerald E. Connolly, passed away peacefully at his home this morning surrounded by family,” the statement said.
Connolly stepped back from his role as the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee in April after his esophageal cancer returned. (It was first diagnosed last fall.)
The congressman was elected to nine terms in Virgnia’s 11th district. He was 75.
