Sen. John Fetterman (D) has been rushed to a Pennsylvania hospital, where he is receiving treatment for a heart-related issue after suffering a fall, according to multiple reports.

The senator fell during a walk near his Braddock home on Thursday morning, according to a statement posted to his social media.

“Upon evaluation, it was established he had a ventricular fibrillation flare-up that led to Senator Fetterman feeling light-headed, falling to the ground and hitting his face with minor injuries,” the statement read.

“He is doing well and receiving routine observation at the hospital. He has opted to stay so doctors can fine-tune his medication regimen.”

The post also included a quip from Fetterman himself, who said, “If you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now!”

The senator’s health has often loomed over his political career since a stroke nearly killed him as he ran against Dr. Mehmet Oz for the Senate in 2022. An Intelligencer exposé earlier this year also detailed his mental health struggles.

Fetterman has been in the news all week after he was one of the eight senators to cross party lines and vote alongside the Republicans on a deal to end the historic, 43-day government shutdown.
