‘Screams Disrespect!’ Critics Bash Trump For Wearing Blue Suit And Tie To Black-Tie Pope Francis Funeral — But So Did Others

Online critics roasted President Donald Trump over his attire at the funeral of Pope Francis, which multiple outlets claim did not comply with the Vatican dress code.

The 88-year-old Pope passed away Monday, and his funeral was held on Saturday at 10 AM Vatican time, six hours ahead of Eastern time.

The funeral was attended by a host of world leaders, including Trump, Great Britain’s Prince William, former President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and many more.

Trump didn’t relish Biden’s presence, but he was spotted meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the event.

Zelensky posted a photo of his meeting with Trump, and wrote “Good meeting. We discussed a lot one on one. Hoping for results on everything we covered. Protecting lives of our people. Full and unconditional ceasefire. Reliable and lasting peace that will prevent another war from breaking out. Very symbolic meeting that has potential to become historic, if we achieve joint results. Thank you
@POTUS.”

But critics of Trump were focused on his blue suit and blue tie, which ran afoul of the Vatican’s reported dress code, which “required men to wear a dark suit with a black tie and a black button on the left lapel.”

But as several other users pointed out, Biden, Prince William, and others also wore blue. Zelensky didn’t wear a suit, but wore black military garb.
