Democratic Strategist Admits ‘Super Progressive’ Staffers Actually Love Trump’s DC Crackdown: ‘Man, It’s Been Great!’

Dan Turrentine, a Democratic strategist who co-hosts 2WAY’s The Morning Meeting, admitted that many progressive staffers who live in Washington, D.C. are privately supportive of President Donald Trump’s crackdown on crime in the nation’s capital on Wednesday.

“Mark, I do just wanna add, too, after being in D.C. for two days, it is remarkable how much this issue is tying Democrats in knots,” interjected Turrentine as his colleague Mark Halperin tried to wrap up a conversation about the subject.

“Because I talked to several staffers who said, ‘You know, it was actually really nice to go into Union Station and see the markets full again, to see people in there, the homeless people out. Like, these are super progressive staffers who in public would-, are like total, you know, ‘Trump is Hitler,’ who were like, ‘Man, it’s been great!'” added Turrentine. “Most people are advising their members, ‘Stay silent. Don’t touch this.’ Because it’s working, but they don’t want to give Trump credit in public, and it is remarkable how much they’re tied in pretzels.”

“Yeah, it is the broken windows thing,” replied Halperin. “I mean, just one cluster of National Guard on the Hill just can have an incredible effect.”

Trump deployed National Guard troops inside of the District of Columbia, as well as took control of the city’s Metropolitan Police Department last month. Crime has dropped precipitously in the weeks since, but critics have raised a number of objections to the measures.
