FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino announced in a social media post that FBI assets are on the ground at the still-active scene in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where two firefighters were killed Sunday in an ambush-style attack.

Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris confirmed during his latest update that the shooters have not surrendered or been apprehended or neutralized, and that, at the time of his presser, officers were still taking active fire.

Bongino announced the FBI has “technical teams and tactical assets” on site, calling it an “active, and very dangerous scene.”

Local news reports have shown footage of a massive response, including armored SWAT vehicles, helicopters, and multiple agencies and departments at the site.

Two firefighters were killed after local first responders were lured to the scene of what reportedly appears to be a deliberately set fire, which was still burning on the mountain at the time of the last briefing.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed earlier in the evening Sunday that Homeland Security is actively monitoring the incident.

And local news reporters have identified what are reportedly DHS helicopters now at the location.
