Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) is reportedly asking House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to install a statue of Charlie Kirk in the U.S. Capitol, a day after the Turning Point USA founder was assassinated in Utah.

Luna submitted the request on Thursday, according to a spokesman.

“I owe my entire political career to Charlie Kirk,” Luna posted on X. “I would quite literally not be in office today if it weren’t for him. Even when my own party was working against me, Charlie endorsed me and campaigned to help me win election.”

“Today, I am urging @SpeakerJohnson to place a statue of Charlie in the US Capitol to honor his legacy and to serve as a permanent testament to his life, work, and sacrifice.”

Earlier Thursday, a letter to Johnson was circulated among lawmakers, NOTUS reporter Reese Gorman said in a social media post.

“We write to you today with heavy hearts, mourning the tragic loss of Charlie Kirk, a patriot, a father, and a fearless voice for conservative values, who was senselessly assassinated on September 10, 2025 at Utah Valley University,” Luna began in the letter.

Luna went on to attack “broader cultural intolerance” that led to Kirk’s death as he spoke to students at Utah Valley University, and implored Johnson to install the statue.

While responsibility for violence rests with the perpetrator, we must confront the broader cultural intolerance that enabled such a tragedy. Hateful rhetoric from the Left has created a toxic environment where one side finds it acceptable to stoke fear and violence to silence civil dissent. We must be clear: They are the hate they claim to fight. Their words caused this. Their hate caused this.

To honor this legacy, we call upon you to direct a statue of Charlie Kirk be placed in the United States Capitol. This is not a symbolic gesture, but a permanent testament to his life’s work, his courage, and his sacrifice. It will stand a s a reminder that political disagreement must never be answered with violence, and that the fight for truth must carry on.

The letter was signed by Luna and 11 other House Republicans.
