1 Movie, 2 Opinions: Melania Trump’s Flick Gets Praised by Fox News — and Mocked by MS NOW and CNN

So how is Melania Trump’s new documentary? The answer depends on which cable channel you’re watching.
The new flick, aptly dubbed Melania, had a surprisingly strong opening at the box office when it pulled in more than $7 million last weekend. That shocked the Hollywood press, even if the movie still has a way to go before it covers the $75 million that Amazon plowed into it.
Critics hated Melania about as much as the Grammy attendees hated President Donald Trump on Sunday night. But on Fox News it got a rave review from the president’s former press secretary on Monday, with Kayleigh McEnany saying her mom told her the movie theater was “electric” when she went to see it.
“She said not only was the theater packed, it was standing room only — if you could try to sneak into the back of the theater,” McEnany said on Outnumbered. “People were cheering through it, they were excited, it was interactive — people interplaying with the film.”
McEnany also pointed out it was the best debut for a non-concert documentary in more than a decade.
Her co-host Emily Compagno agreed with the “electric” assessment. She said Melania was an “explosive hit” that “speaks volumes” to how disconnected coastal elite critics are with the rest of America.
“She has the support of over 80 million Americans,” Compagno said. “So those critics in Hollywood can just stop it.”
The other two major cable channels were less enthusiastic.
MediasTouch podcaster Adam Mockler joked Melania was a “great first date” during an appearance on CNN’s Table for Five on Saturday. Why?
“Because the theater will be empty, you can bring in food, you can chat, there’s nobody around there bothering you.”
Host Abby Phillip found that pretty funny and chimed in the movie would offer “a lot to talk about afterwards.”
Mockler also said during that same show that Melania was “quite literally bombing” — which was an incorrect use of “literally,” unless he saw the projector dropping tiny explosives on the heads of unsuspecting moviegoers.
But the First Lady’s movie was not a laughing matter over on MS NOW later that day.
Anchor Alex Witt interviewed Melania Trump’s former Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham, who quit following the January 6 Capitol Riot back in 2021.
Grisham, who also served as Melania Trump’s chief of staff, admitted she had not seen the “documentary — or mocumentary, I’m not sure what it is.” Still, Grisham said she was “disappointed” that Melania Trump was promoting the movie on social media, instead of commenting on shootings and anti-ICE riots in Minnesota.
Here is what Grisham said when Witt asked her why she thought the movie was made:
Well, it’s my understanding that she got paid quite handsomely… I guarantee that nobody will really walk away knowing a whole lot more about her, so I think it was probably financially motivated. And I mean, girl power, go her that she you know, paid as much as she did.
But I quickly looked at her X account before coming on and all it’s been about is promoting this documentary when people were dying in Minnesota and and so that really disappointed me.
Again, She’s got such a good platform. She actually does have such a level head and can advise [the president] so well sometimes. And, you know, she’s using it to promote this documentary that she profited on. And it’s just disappointing.
The following night on MS NOW’s The Weekend: Primetime, co-host Catherine Rampell noted it was a good news, bad news situation.
She said the good news was that the movie was going to make more than the few million bucks it was anticipated to bring in; the bad news she said was that it was “already one of the worst reviewed films of the year.” She then read some brutal reviews from outlets like The Atlantic, The Guardian, and The Washington Post.
Ayman Mohyeldin then asked his fellow co-hosts who could have possibly bought $7 million worth of Melania tickets. Antonia Hylton joked, “the same person who buys all the Republican books.”
And Rampell quipped it was “the same people who are buying the crypto.”
Hilarious stuff. Watch the clips above via Fox News, CNN, and MS NOW.
