Fox’s Jessica Tarlov Says She Wishes Trump Won in 2020 Because He ‘Got Stronger’ After His Loss

It would have been better for the United States if President Donald Trump had won reelection in 2020, Fox’s Jessica Tarlov told The New Yorker in an interview published Tuesday.

“I look back to the 2020 lines of argumentation about why we needed Donald Trump out and what Joe Biden could provide, and it was a safe pair of hands,” Tarlov said. “And I believe without Covid that Trump would have won re-election, and I wish that he had. I wish we were done now.”

Instead, Trump “got stronger” while he was out of office, she continued.

“Stephen Miller’s certainly not as powerful,” if Trump had gone right into a second term, Tarlov insisted.

She said:

Project 2025, not a thing, right? And so I hate that we gave them four years to take a sledgehammer to the country, and we haven’t found a way to deliver our vision for the future in simple slogans. Because we’re too decorous, too mild, too… I don’t know. I mean, I have a Ph.D, so, like, I get it. I get why it’s interesting to write a big policy paper or dig deep into what happened. But for me, it’s like, just give me the bumper stickers. Where’s your “no tax on tips”?

The interview was released one day after Fox announced Emily Compagno will join The Five as a permanent co-host. Tarlov rotates the show’s liberal seat with Harold Ford Jr.

The chair Compagno will occupy has been empty since Jeanine Pirro left the show in May 2025.

“Emily is a highly accomplished host whose energy and talent have made her a standout across Fox News Media, and we are thrilled to officially welcome her to the show,” Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott said in a press release.

Compagno will no longer be featured on Outnumbered as part of the switch.
