Fox’s Larry Kudlow Fumes at Senator Tuberville: ‘Republicans Are Doing Nothing’ and ‘The Polls Are Lousy’

Fox Business host Larry Kudlow aired a list of grievances to Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) on Wednesday, telling the senator his party is “doing nothing.”

Kudlow has been on a bit of a tear lately, complaining to various Republican officials on his show that the GOP is not moving quickly enough to enact their agenda. Republicans control the upper chamber 53-47, but most pieces of legislation require 60 votes to overcome a procedural hurdle called cloture. However, bills involving mandatory federal spending may pass by a simple majority vote. This procedure – called reconciliation – can only be used once a year.

On Wednesday’s edition of Kudlow, the host welcomed Tuberville and came out hot.

“Mr. Tuberville, welcome, Sir, as always,” Kudlow began. “I want to ask you, the socialists are winning; they’re taking over the Democratic Party; the Republicans are doing nothing. I mean, you’ve got stuff out there – the polls are lousy. There’s an economic boom and no one seems to know about it. And today, you had this very important article showing that people are paying more in taxes; they’re spending more on tax payments than on food, clothing, and shelter. And the Senate, with all due respect, Senator Tuberville – you’re one of my favorites, as you know – but the U.S. Republican Senate ain’t doing a thing about it!”

Tuberville, who is leaving the Senate and running for governor of Alabama, concurred.

“I agree with you, Larry,” the senator said. “We’re getting ready to go on recess. You know, we’re only in two weeks in September. We’re off the whole month of October. I’m with you. We need to get the American people something before the election, or it’s not gonna be good. And that’s gonna have to be reconciliation.”

A CNN poll released last week shows that 77% of Americans rate the economy as very or somewhat poor. On Wednesday, President Donald Trump dismissed such negative data, calling it “fake.”
