Conservative media influencer Tucker Carlson is facing a storm of criticism from top Republican lawmakers, slamming the close ally of former President Donald Trump for “platforming known Holocaust revisionists.”

The backlash follows Carlson’s interview with podcast historian Darryl Cooper on an episode of The Tucker Carlson Show, where he labeled former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill as the “chief villain” of World War II, arguing that he was “primarily responsible for the war becoming what it did.”

Cooper went on to make controversial claims about the Holocaust, suggesting that rather than a deliberate plan to exterminate the Jewish people it was an unintended consequence of Germany being “completely unprepared to handle the millions of prisoners of war.”

According to Cooper, millions “ended up dead” because there was no food to feed them, and German soldiers believed it was “more humane to finish them off quickly.”

Carlson’s decision to give Cooper a platform has left many Republicans furious, according to Jewish Insider. The outlet published comments from several ranking conservatives who called out Carlson.

Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY), whose district includes a large Jewish population, said: “Platforming known Holocaust revisionists is deeply disturbing.”

He added: “During my time in the State Assembly, I worked with Democrats and Republicans to ensure all students in New York received proper education on the Holocaust, something Mr. Cooper clearly never had.”

Another Republican congressman, Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE), also weighed in: “Hitler conducted mass genocide against the Jewish people and triggered the most deadly war in human history. There is no whitewashing this evil man’s history.”

Meanwhile, Fred Zeidman, a top GOP donor, blasted Carlson’s influence within the MAGA movement, saying: “Tucker Carlson is not leading the Republican Party in the direction of a party that I have been proud to be a member of. I wish Donald Trump wasn’t as close to him.”
