JD Vance Announces Birth Of Fourth Child With Wife Usha

Vice President J.D. Vance announced the birth of his fourth child with wife, Usha Vance, in Washington, D.C., on Sunday.

The baby is the first child born to a sitting U.S. vice president in more than 150 years, according to the Associated Press.

“We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning. Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother,” Vance wrote on social media.

“The incredible military doctors and staff members of Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit have been a blessing. We are deeply thankful for all they have done for our family.”

The new baby joins siblings Ewan 9; Vivek, 6; and Mirabel, 4.

Usha is an attorney and the first Hindu Second Lady of the United States. She met JD Vance as they both were studying at Yale Law School.

Vance, who is Christian, while his wife is Hindu, has spoken about his experience raising their young children in an interfaith household.

“We talk to each other about this stuff. So, we decided to raise our kids Christian. Our two oldest kids go to a Christian school,” Vance said last October, adding, “My 8-year-old was very proud of his First Communion.”

Before his inauguration as vice president, Vance and his family lived in Cincinnati, Ohio. He served briefly as U.S. senator from Ohio before joining Donald Trump in the race for the White House.

In May 2025, Vance spoke to Fox News about how his children were adjusting to life as the second family. Vance said the couple was trying to “deliver as much normalcy to the kids in a very abnormal situation.”

All three Vance children joined their parents on a four-day visit to India last spring, as the vice president met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During their trip, the Vances visited Indian landmarks, including the famed Taj Mahal.
