Jeanine Pirro Gripes That ‘Government Is Hard’ as She Returns to Fox After 3 Months in Office

Former Fox News host and U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro lamented that “government is hard” as she returned to the network for the first time since taking the job three months ago.

Pirro said “I miss Fox” when asked about the experience of trading cable news hosting duties for D.C.’s top prosecutor job by Laura Ingraham on The Ingraham Angle Wednesday night.

Pirro then griped about the difficulties of working for the federal government.

“Government is hard,” she said. “Government is about accountability and responsibility. I work 12 hours at least every day. You’re never not working. You have to pay for water. The government, let me tell you, they waste millions. I’m looking at contracts. I want to indict people for contracts that the U.S. government is giving out voluntarily. The worst!”

What followed was Pirro’s familiar rant about the water situation in her office.

“They don’t care, and then they say to my prosecutors, you have to join the water club for $7 a month to drink good water. It’s frustrating,” she said.

“You can’t get a glass of water in your office?” Ingraham cut in, glancing at the camera in disbelief.

“No, they have to pay for it,” Pirro responded.

Pirro took over as interim U.S. attorney for D.C. in May, replacing Missouri Republican Ed Martin. She was confirmed in the role by the Senate on Aug. 3.

Read a portion of the exchange here:

LAURA INGRAHAM: Judge, the difference between being a host on Fox and working in a government office. Having worked in government offices myself, tell me the experience.

JEANINE PIRRO First of all, I miss Fox. I love everybody. Uh, government is hard. Government is about accountability and responsibility. I work 12 hours at least every day. You’re never not working. You have to pay for water. The government, let me tell you, they waste millions. I’m looking at contracts. I want to indict people for contracts that the U.S. government is giving out voluntarily. The worst!

INGRAHAM: The worst waste of money, and then they get you on little things.

PIRRO: They don’t care. They don’t care, and then they say to my prosecutors, you have to join the water club for $7 a month to drink good water. It’s frustrating.

INGRAHAM: You can’t get a glass of water in your office?

PIRRO: No, they have to pay for it. They have to join the water club. It is ridiculous! My job, I have great prosecutors in my office and I’m very proud of them.

INGRAHAM: They want to make a difference.

PIRRO: They do. I have national security prosecutors. I have civil prosecutors. We do everything from civil cases to terrorism to local crime. It’s a huge office.
