South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson (R), Rep. Nancy Mace’s (R-SC) GOP primary opponent in the Palmetto State’s 2026 gubernatorial race, trolled Mace over her meltdown at the Charleston International Airport last week by handing out food from Chick-fil-A and Waffle House to airport staff on Tuesday.
Mace reportedly denounced airport police as “f*cking incompetent” last Thursday, and the congresswoman herself confirmed that she confronted authorities over their “mediocrity” during a Monday morning appearance on Fox Business.
Wilson appeared to needle Mace over the incident on X Tuesday, posing for photographs with officers and offering them food.
“Stopped by Charleston International Airport this morning with fresh, hot Waffle House and Chick-fil-A for the hardworking TSA agents and airport police. TSA agents are showing up and doing their jobs during a shutdown, without getting paid, and our airport police are there every day keeping us safe. That is true dedication and service,” he wrote. “Everyone loves Waffle House, and South Carolina appreciates our law enforcement and security teams.”
Mace, who has continued to post about the incident, did not take kindly to Wilson’s actions.
Indeed, she posted a picture of Wilson with the food with the words “PEDOPHILE PROTECTOR” overlayed on top of it.
“Asking aloud if Alan Wilson rode in a p*do van this morning to deliver food? YES or NO? Let me know in the comments your thoughts,” she added.
Mace has been accused of having a difficult personality by former staff, including her ex-communications director Natalie Johnson. Last May, she accused ex-employees of various forms of sabotage, as well as of hacking into her devices.
“This seems to be stemming from paranoia and trust issues. She’s clearly unwell and I hope she gets help,” one former staffer told The Daily Mail at the time.
