New Poll Shows Major Cracks in MAGA — as Just 35% of Republicans ‘Strongly Approve’ of Trump

President Donald Trump’s support among mega-MAGA fans may be cracking, according to a new poll that showed only a dismal 13% of those surveyed “strongly approved” of his handling of the nation’s top post and only 35% of Republicans saying the same.

The survey from Reuters/Ipsos was conducted Aug. 21 to Aug. 24 and asked 1,215 adults: “Overall, do you approve or disapprove of the way Donald Trump is handling his job as president?”

While overall the survey showed 82% of Republicans indicating approval of the president’s job performance, a deeper look showed the apparent dwindling of Trump’s hardcore support.

CNN Senior Political Reporter Aaron Blake noted the approval numbers were “the lowest I’ve seen in a quality poll. It’s just 35% of Republicans, too.”

The poll had a margin of error of 2.9 percentage points, and comes as the president has been walloped by a string of surveys that have shown cratering support for the commander in chief.

One recent Fox News poll highlighted by CNN’s data expert Harry Enten showed Trump’s favorability on the economy plummeting to -26 points, prompting Enten to proclaim: “My goodness gracious.”

The network also highlighted data showing Trump’s favorability on inflation had plunged to -38 points with the same white, non-colleged educated group of voters for an astonishing 60 point drop.

The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll was only marginally better than the same survey a week prior, which revealed Trump’s lowest-ever approval rating: 33%.

The declaration prompted CNN’s Abby Philip to declare that Trump is “not living in the real world.”

“His approval rating, as we just said, is at a record low; 65% of Americans think that he and his policies have worsened economic conditions. Again, the president is not living in the real world, and I’m not sure if that will ever change. But there seems like that has real significant consequences for his party,” Phillip said on Saturday’s Table for Five.
