‘They Raided My House!’ Trump Dodges When Asked If More FBI Raids On Critics Are Coming

President Donald Trump dodged a question about the possibility of future FBI raids targeting his critics on Monday, reminding reporters that the FBI previously raided his own home in Florida.

Trump took reporter questions after welcoming South Korean President Lee Jae Myung in the Oval Office. When the topic turned to Friday’s raid on the home of his former National Security Advisor John Bolton, Trump maintained– as he had previously– that he knew nothing about it.

“Have you been briefed on the search of John Bolton’s home and office from Friday? Have you been briefed on that?” an off camera reporter asked.

“I have not been briefed. No, I read it just like you did,” said Trump. “I was never a fan of his. I thought he was stupid. I thought he was, you know, a guy that only wanted to go into war. He liked killing people. I thought he was essentially a bad guy. But I’m not involved in that. No, you’d have to ask Pam Bondi about that.”

“Are more raids coming, sir?” asked another off camera reporter. “Are more raids like that coming, sir? Are more raids like the one on John Bolton’s house coming? More raids?”

“I don’t know, you’d have to ask the department of justice,” replied the president, before continuing:

They raided my house. I can tell you that. They did a big raid on my house. They took away everything that wasn’t pinned down, and they took away some of that, too. No. They raided Mar-a-Lago. They started that. These were bad people that we had in our government, before. They raided Mar-a-Lago. They went into my wife’s area. They went into my son’s area, my young son. And what they did was a disgrace. But, how did it work out? Oh, I see we’re in the Oval Office. Oh, I guess it didn’t work out too well for ’em, did it? They are bad people. They’re sick. They’re sick people, and they came in with their guns into Mar-a-Lago. And like, 98 people. I wasn’t there. Fortunately, I wasn’t there. But they are they are very evil, very sick people that group. And they, if they would have won the election, this country wouldn’t exist as we know it. This country would have been a failed country. And now it’s the hottest country anywhere in the world by far. We are the hottest country in the world by far.

Bolton, who served as Trump’s national security advisor from 2018 to 2019, had his home in Maryland raided by FBI officials on Friday morning. The raid began at about 7 a.m. and was conducted as a “national security probe,” the New York Post first reported. Agents were seen carrying boxes out of the home, but no specific reason has yet been given for the search.

Trump told reporters on Friday that he knew nothing about the raid while continuing to insult Bolton, who he called a ‘sleazebag.’

Trump’s home in Florida, the resort known as Mar-a-Lago, was raided by FBI officials in August of 2022. The raid, which resulted in the seizure of over 13,000 government documents, was conducted in order to recover classified documents that the president had improperly retained from his time in the White House.

Special Counsel Jack Smith indicted Trump in connection with those documents in 2023 for allegedly holding them illegally and willfully obstructing their retrieval. The multiple indictments against Trump were dropped after he won the 2024 election.
