Trump Rages At Iranian Leaders, Says They Kill ‘Young Kids’ Like ‘They Are Candy’

President Donald Trump said Iran’s “very evil” leaders kill protesters “like they are candy.”

Speaking to reporters from the Oval Office with Lebanese President Joseph Aboun at his side, Trump took a variety of questions, including one in which he was asked how long it could take to “stamp out” Iranian threats to full shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump pointed in part to the reported executions of two young men on Sunday, who were hanged for helping demonstrators in Iran earlier this year escape government violence during the country’s massive January protests.

Erfan Esfandiari, 18, and Gol-Mohammad Mohammadi, 23, were among 59 men arrested during the protests earlier this year.

Trump wasted no time claiming Iran’s nuclear capabilities have been decimated and pointing to the executions as justification for the American military campaign in the region:

If we left right now it would take Iran 20, 25 years to rebuild. And we’re not finished at all. But if we left right now it would take them a long time. Years, years to rebuild. But we’re not leaving right now.

So we have had a big impact on Iran. If we didn’t do what I did with — we got to two things. The Iran nuclear deal done by Barack Obama. I terminated that. If I didn’t terminate it you wouldn’t have Israel now because they would have had a nuclear weapon years ago.

If we didn’t do the B-2 bombers knocking out the nuclear sites a year ago, one of the first things we did early in the administration, they would have a nuclear weapon.

And you wouldn’t have Israel and in my opinion you wouldn’t have various other countries in the Middle East. They would all be gone. They would have been terminated, extinguished.

I believe that by doing what we did, by terminating Iran, who is very evil people leading their country. You saw the number of protestors that they killed, 52,000 plus.

Put a couple of them up today. Young kids. They kill them, they kill them like they are candy. It’s crazy what they do. They treat them so badly.

They are just killing people at random over 52,000 people and nobody talks about it.

But if I didn’t do the attack on their nuclear sites or if I didn’t terminate the Obama agreement with Iran, which was an absolute — an absolute hit on having them get — that was a road to a nuclear weapon. Our deal will be a wall. It already is.
