Trump’s Chief of Staff Talks Boss’s Wild Spat With Elon Musk In Rare Interview

President Donald Trump’s Chief of Staff Susie Wiles joined the New York Post’s Miranda Devine for a rare media appearance to discuss Trump’s second term so far and what exactly happened with Elon Musk.

Wiles called the very public spat between Musk and Trump, which escalated to the point of Musk accusing Trump of being in the “Epstein Files,” a “little hiccup” on the latest episode of Devine’s Pod Force One podcast.

“The president was very, very kind to him. And Elon had so much to offer us. He knew things we didn’t know. He knew people and technologies that we didn’t know. It was a great thing when it was a good thing. And had a very, I think, a very troublesome ending,” Wiles told Devine.

“Why do you think that happened?” Devine pressed.

“I don’t know, I don’t understand it. I don’t know, I know that what has been said doesn’t ring accurate to me, but I don’t know. I enjoyed working with Elon. I think he’s a fascinating person and sees the world differently. And I think that’s probably what the president saw, too, just a little bit different than the average Joe. Um, but, uh, it certainly came to not a good ending,” Wiles added.

“Yeah, I, the president, seemed to be very interested in him. I mean, he would spend a long time, you know, at dinners and things, talking to him closely,” Devine noted as Wiles agreed.

“Obviously, there was something there, but…” Devine said as Wiles jumped in:

Who is the world’s richest man? Might be the world’s smartest man, honestly. And he does have a quirky, my word, approach to the way he views virtually everything, but certainly business and organizations and government and insight into people that were really important, I think, in the very early days, particularly during transition.

“And do you think he got, I don’t know, jealous because he wasn’t getting Donald Trump’s full attention or was it something?” Devine speculated.

“No, that doesn’t sound like, like Elon. I don’t know. I, I don’t know,” Wiles concluded.
