Charlie Kirk’s Producer Pays Emotional Tribute to MAGA Star: ‘Overly Loyal, Overly Generous, Overly Decent’
Andrew Kolvet, the executive producer for The Charlie Kirk Show, paid an emotional tribute to Charlie Kirk on Thursday, calling him “overly generous” and loyal.
Kolvet joined Steve Bannon on his WarRoom podcast and admitted that he “candidly” did not want to do the show, but he pushed himself to do so because he believes Kirk would have pushed him to. Kolvet described Kirk as “loyal to a fault” and a real friend to President Donald Trump.
“I’m reminded of so many conversations where I would ask Charlie, well, you know, what did the president say. And so many times his answer is, you know, people just don’t understand, we’re actually friends. Like, we are good friends, and he loved him. And I know Trump loved Charlie and it wasn’t transactional. And Steve, you, know this, Charlie was loyal to a fault,” Kolvet said.
The producer added that Kirk would sometimes face backlash from fellow MAGA supporters for not being critical enough of Trump. Kirk was shot and killed on Wednesday during an event at a Utah college campus. The Turning Point USA founder was 31 and leaves behind a wife and two children.
“I’d see the people on online, you know, criticizing if Trump did something they disagreed with and Charlie wasn’t loud enough against it, and people just didn’t understand Charlie was loyal. He was fundamentally good and decent and anybody who knew him intimately knew that he was overly loyal, overly generous, overly decent and patient. And [there are] so many people that maybe didn’t treat him the way they should have,” said Kolvet.
Kolvet argued that Trump’s announcement he will posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom is well deserved as he fought so hard to keep the MAGA “coalition together.”
“I think I can hear it in the President’s voice this morning that he lost a friend, as we all did, and I think it’s a great honor,” he said. “I know Charlie is honored and his wife is honored, Erica, and it’s well deserved.”
