SNL Absolutely Skewers GOP’s SOTU Response With Scarlett Johansson as Dead Ringer for ‘Scary Mom’ Katie Britt
Saturday Night Live absolutely skewered the Republican response to the State of the Union address when two-time Academy Award nominee Scarlett Johansson made a guest appearance as Sen. Katie Britt’s (R-AL) doppelgänger.
The show’s cold open began with an amped-up Joe Biden, played by Mikey Day making quips about House Speaker Mike Johnson’s eye rolling (R-LA) and Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s red MAGA hat.
“Marjorie, yeah, thanks for dressing up tonight!” Day’s Biden said, “Anyway, you know, I’d stay here and talk to you all more but I saw a glimpse of the Republican Senator’s response to my speech, and I think she’s going to help me more than anything else I could say here. Enjoy!”
Good evening, America, my name is Katie Britt. And I have the honor of serving the great people of Alabama. But tonight, I’ll be auditioning for the part of “Scary Mom.” And I’ll be performing an original monologue called, “This Country is Hell.”
You see, I’m not just a senator. I’m a wife, a mother, and the craziest bitch in the Target parking lot.
I’m worried about the future of our children, and this is why I’ve invited you into this strange, empty kitchen. Because Republicans wanted me to appeal to women voters, and women love kitchen!
But, first and foremost, I’m a mom. And like any mom, I’m going to do a pivot out of nowhere and into a shockingly violent story about sex trafficking. And, rest assured, every detail about it is real, except the year, when it took place, ad who was president when it happened,
Johansson has hosted the show six times, and is married to Weekend Update’s Colin Jost.
