Dan Le Batard Show Co-Host Slams ‘Pawn’ Pat McAfee for Attending Trump’s Patriot Games

Dan La Batard Show co-host Mike Ryan called out Pat McAfee on Wednesday for attending President Donald Trump’s Patriot Games.

The three-day event was at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio. There, high school athletes from America’s states, territories and tribal nations came together for a series of athletic competitions. The winners, one boy and one girl, each won $125,000 in scholarship money.

On the final day of the competition on Tuesday, McAfee was invited to appear beside Trump as he took in the games.

Reacting to McAfee’s attendance, Ryan called him a “pawn” for the Trump administration while criticizing the event as a whole. He said:

It’s just using sport, literally, as propaganda with the supreme leader watching from the stands — “A vision of what America should look like” — and it’s hugely embarrassing. And straight up, if it were happening in another country… you’d say, “Ah, that’s so on-the-nose for Putin, creating this whole thing just to justify and normalize his entire administration.”

And Pat McAfee is right there beside him being a pawn, willing or unwilling. I think we’re at the point where we need to stop underselling whether or not he’s willing. Seems pretty damn willing and smart, and I’m sure he’s going to be super defensive about it later today on this show.

Hours later on his show, McAfee acknowledged the backlash he received and said he would “continue to promote kids being active.”
