Dave Portnoy Torches ‘Race Baiter’ Ryan Clark for On-Air Spat With ESPN Analyst: ‘One of the All-Time Jerks’
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy called out ESPN’s Ryan Clark on his new Fox Sports show for a recent on-air altercation he had with a colleague.
Last week, Clark found himself at the center of controversy due to an exchange with fellow analyst Peter Schrager. During a conversation on Friday’s episode of Get Up, Clark remarked, “That’s the non-player in you,” in response to something Schrager said. Naturally, Schrager took exception to the comment and told Clark not to “belittle” him.
Later that night, Clark apologized for the interaction that, according to him, continued off the air, as well.
Clark was widely criticized for the on-air comments. Joined by former NBA player Jason Williams on Monday’s episode of Wake Up Barstool, Portnoy slammed his ESPN counterpart for his treatment of Schrager:
Ryan Clark went after Peter Schrager from NFL Network. They got into debate about a game and Ryan Clark — who’s one of the all-time jerks in the history of mankind — he is a race baiter. You can say that. I don’t know if we can say this. He is. The only time he’s in the news is when he’s picking fights and then apologizing; but he yelled at Peter Schrager, basically saying, “Hey, shut up. You didn’t play football. You can’t talk.”
I’ve never understood that. Like, I get playing the game, but there’s a lot of morons who play the game; there’s a lot of bad GMs who played football; there’s a lot of bad coaches who played football. Watching football, being around football, being around sports — so I appreciate you, Jay Will, saying you didn’t have to play the game, certainly not to have an opinion.
