LSU women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey took more shots at a reporter from The Washington Post for an upcoming “hit piece” she claims will be published soon.

On Saturday, Mulkey began her press conference by revealing that a reporter — who has been identified in multiple reports as Kent Babb — had gotten in touch with some of her former players. She claimed Babb has been working on the story for two years and that he “offered to let them be anonymous in a story if they’ll say negative things about me.” She added that he specifically targeted “disgruntled” players.

After the Tigers’ second round win over Middle Tennessee on Sunday, Mulkey was asked if the controversy is a distraction that the team has had to overcome. She flatly denied that being the case while continuing to disparage him.

“No,” Mulkey said. “Listen, man, we’re not gonna let one sleazy reporter distract us from what we’re trying to do — absolutely not. My kids didn’t even know I said that yesterday. That team’s not involved in this. They were in shock when they saw that on the internet. I don’t take that stuff to my team.”
