NFL Legend Candidly Tells Trump ‘I Don’t Know What We’re Supposed to Be Doing’ On New Sports Commission
NFL legend Lawrence Taylor admitted on the podium Thursday that he had no idea what he was doing next to President Donald Trump in the White House.
Lawrence was one of handful of professional athletes who joined Trump as he signed a bill reinstating the presidential physical fitness test. The test first began in the 1950s and continued until 2013 under former President Barack Obama.
On Thursday, Trump was joined by Taylor, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, professional golfer Bryson DeChambeau, WWE star Triple H, and several members of his cabinet to celebrate the reintroduction of the fitness test. After delivering his opening remarks about his newly formed sports commission and the various issues it will tackle, Trump called on the athletes to step to the podium for their own brief speeches.
When it was Taylor’s time up, he candidly revealed he didn’t know what his purpose was at the White House.
“I’m just proud to be on this team,” Taylor said. “I don’t know why. I don’t know what we’re supposed to be doing, but I’m here to serve and I’m here to serve you. OK, so I’m gonna do the best I can for as long as I can. Thank you very much.”
As Taylor walked back to his spot behind the podium, Trump remarked that there was “nobody like him.”
