Pat McAfee Show Begins With Crew Ripping U2 Concert at Las Vegas Sphere: ‘Let’s Maybe Cut the Residency Short’

Members of The Pat McAfee Show wasted no time on Thursday expressing their disappointment in the U2 concert in Las Vegas’s Sphere.

While in Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII, the crew attended one of U2’s shows at the city’s newest head-turning venue. Since the opening of the Sphere in late September, the band has made use of its cutting-edge technology with a dazzling visual display during concerts.

The crew praised the production of the concert. When it came to the music, however, Ty Schmit was let down.

“Listen, I don’t want to offend anyone,” Schmit said. “That’s not what we’re trying to do. We’re not trying to get up here and offend people and make people upset.

“I’ll be honest. I thought I was a U2 fan going into last night’s show just because you kinda get swept up in the pomp and circumstance and everything and it was really cool. I realized pretty quickly I’m not a U2 guy. In fact, I’d go as far as to say U2 sucks.”

Schmit said his main issue was the setlist, which featured no songs he recognized. McAfee agreed.

“The setlist was no songs that we knew for two hours straight,” McAfee said.

“But, the Sphere was awesome. Sphere was awesome. Technology’s great. I’m excited to see another band in there.”

“Bingo,” Schmit responded. “Let’s maybe cut the residency short. Bono, go figure something out. That wasn’t the Bono I was cracking up in my head.”
