Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham warned fans to stop throwing dildos on the court could to avoid hurting players. On Tuesday, she was hit by one.
The first incident happened during a July 29 game between the Golden State Valkyries and the Atlanta Dream. With less than a minute left in a tie game, play was suddenly halted when a green sex toy was hurled onto the court.
A second incident occurred in another Atlanta Dream game. Again, play stopped as the sex toy was quickly removed from the floor.
In response to what was clearly becoming a pattern, Cunningham took to X/Twitter to discourage others from recreating it.
“Stop throwing dildos on the court,” Cunningham posted on X. “You’re going to hurt one of us.”
Four nights later, the Fever were in Los Angeles to take on the Sparks. In the second quarter of that game, Aa referee blew the whistle to stop play after Sparks star Kelsey Plum shot a couple of free throws. Cunningham flinched as if she’d been hit by something.
Upon closer inspection of the incident, another green dildo could be seen just feet away from her on the ground. Plum quickly walked over and kicked it away.
After the game, Cunningham joked about getting involved in the very thing she warned against.
“This did NOT age well,” she said in response to her previous post.
