WATCH: Caitlin Clark Nearly Loses It in Heated Exchange With Ref and Has to Be Held Back

Caitlin Clark had to be held back to avoid potential punishment after she charged at a referee in a heated exchange during a game on Tuesday.

In the third quarter of the Indiana Fever’s game against the Connecticut Sun, play was stopped when the ball went out of bounds, and the refs went to the monitor to see who touched it last. Moments before the refs began reviewing the play, however, Clark was seen on the broadcast speaking with the ref. When the official said something and walked away, Clark clearly took exception to the comment and started yelling in his direction. The star guard was immediately held back by one of the assistant coaches.

While the two were separated, Clark could also be seen yelling, “Are you fucking kidding me?” She was then escorted back to the Fever bench.

Even as the refs were reviewing the previous play, Clark wasn’t done. From her team’s bench and surrounded by her teammates, she began yelling in the direction of the same official she had the prior exchange with. She then motioned for the ref to come closer, and even said, “Come here!” When the ref didn’t approach her, she said, “Unbelievable.”

Clark took it upon herself to walk up to the ref and continue their dialogue. They parted ways seconds later, with Clark still clearly frustrated.
