Brian Williams’ Daughter Will Play Peter Pan in NBC’s Live Broadcast

NBC announced on Wednesday that Allison Williams, daughter of NBC Nightly News host Brian Williams and star of HBO’s Girls, will play the titular role in the network’s live broadcast of Peter Pan, set to air later this year:

Peter Pan Live is a follow-up to NBC’s The Sound of Music Live, which starred Carrie Underwood and drew huge ratings — but terrible reviews — when it aired last December. Casting a woman as Peter Pan follows in the tradition of the iconic Mary Martin version of the musical, which was first staged on NBC in 1955. Previously, NBC announced that Christopher Walken will portray Captain Hook.

If her performance is anything like that time she sang Kanye West’s “Stronger” on Girls, the Twitter backlash is going to be even fiercer than it was for The Sound of Music.
