Candy Crowley Asks Panel About The Lack Of Diversity In Obama’s Cabinet: ‘Does It Matter?’
CNN’s Candy Crowley discussed President Obama‘s recent cabinet picks with her guests on State Of The Union Sunday and although she noted the cabinet so far is “astonishing in its white male variety,” asked, “does it matter?”
“There is a lot made about the president’s latest picks in the cabinet,” she said, before she invited her panel guests to comment.
Representative Elijah Cummings (D-MD) said that “it does matter” but noted “it’s a little bit early” to judge, because not all the cabinet positions have been filled.
“No offense,” Crowley quipped, “But as you know, State, Defense, Treasury – those are the crown jewels of the cabinet.”
GOP Representative Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) agreed with Crowley and said Obama passed up Michele Flournoy, which a lot of people are “disappointed” with. Crowley pressed Blackburn, however, saying she didn’t believe we could “make the case” that Obama “is not interested in diversity.”
